Gaspare LORENZINI (Piacenza 1724-1811)
In his early years, Lorenzini was a pupil of Giovanni Battista Guadagnini. Lorenzo Guadagnini, father of GB, has been revealed through research not to be a violin maker. Consequently, it is now generally accepted that Lorenzini himself made some of the violins labeled Lorenzo Guadagnini. After GB Guadagnini departed from Piacenza, Lorenzini continued to enjoy making instruments, gradually changing his style and model. This violin is a quite typical example of his work dated around 1760-70.
